The primary function of the system is to broadcast live and pre-recorded messages throughout the Chief Office building in the event of an emergency.

Our remit was to provide a Public Address System which can alert all areas of the building in the event of an emergency. The bespoke system was designed to the customers’ specific requirements. The design utilises 100 volt line technology combined with loudspeaker line monitoring. The surveillance system used is often referred to as the “Return Loop Technique” A surveillance tone (20 Hz) is generated within the control equipment, which passes along all cabling feeding each loudspeaker; this is then detected at the main equipment rack via a return cable. Failure of any amplifier or break in the cabling will cause a fault condition to be indicated both visually and audibly at the main equipment rack. A fault condition is also indicated on both panels. On activating any message from either control panel, an associated message is broadcast simultaneously to the Multi-tone paging system. This allows staff in areas not covered by the sound distribution system to receive emergency messages.

The system is currently divided into twelve zones, where the operator has the facility to select any zone individually, any combination of zones or all zones simultaneously.

In 2002 we completed the refurbishment of the restaurant public address system to include ambient noise sensing system which maintains constant sound levels.

We have maintained the full system since completion.
